Commissions

(Please see the tabs above for price guides to the various art works I offer.)

My pet portrait sculptures are handmade and one of a kind. I use artist quality polymer clay, over a sturdy wire armature. The sculpture is hand-painted, with good quality acrylic paints, and then sealed with a matt finish to protect the paint work. Eyes and noses are given a glossy finish to bring the portrait to life.

Because your pet is unique, my portraits are unique and, as such, vary in price depending on the size, the type of animal requested and whether you’d like more than one pet represented in the same work. Please visit my sculpture gallery for images of past commissions.

I will send regular updates, with photographs, to you throughout the creation process. This enables you to offer feedback and suggest changes you may like. After all, no one knows your pet better than you! Please be aware that not all changes may be possible and some may incur an extra cost (especially if they require significant re-sculpting). I will always discuss any changes, and possible extra charges, with you before carrying out the work.

Waiting times will vary, depending on the size and complexity of the piece and how many other commissions I am working on at that time. As a conservative estimate the normal waiting period is 4 – 12 months. Please bear this in mind if ordering as a gift.

To secure a sculpture slot, once one is suggested or is available, a non-refundable deposit of 25% is payable. Once the deposit is received I will start work on the sculpture. I am happy to receive the outstanding payment via installments (if you pay via Paypal you are responsible for paying the fees). All installments must be paid before I will ship the completed item. The work remains the property of Philosophyfox Crafts until the customer has paid for the sculpture in full. I retain the rights to use images of the work for my portfolio and for advertising purposes.

I post sculptures via special delivery within the UK and international signed for to all other countries. I will provide a shipping quote on request.

I offer free lifetime repairs on my pet portrait sculptures. This does not include paint work; there will be a charge for this, depending on the nature of the work requested. Please contact me for more details. ‘Repairs’ means chips or the loss of small parts (toes, tail tips etc.) – if a piece is dropped and is broken into many pieces or is smashed, this may be outside of my normal ‘repairs’ warranty remit. But I will always discuss your requirements with you first.

Please contact me via email philosophyfox [at] gmail [dot] com if you would like to discuss a personalised quote. I endeavour to reply to all enquiries within 48 hours but please allow longer over a weekend and bank holidays.
